Clothes – Welcome to the wild jungle of millions of pieces that want to be worn. But how do you find unique pieces at affordable prices? Second hand is always a great opportunity here. Second hand does not mean that you only find worn-out clothes. It’s about buying pre-loved clothing that you feel comfortable with. Some pieces are not even worn and eventually you will find pieces still having their price tag on. But regularly you will find pieces that are worn and still in a great condition. Often people just get rid of things they don’t want to wear anymore. A couple of days ago I picked out some pieces of which I thought they don’t fit my style anymore. There was nothing wrong with them I just didn’t like them anymore and that is often the case with second hand. Nevertheless that doesn’t mean that someone else wouldn’t be happy to wear these pieces so please don’t throw any clothing away rather give them to second hand shops. They can still sell them and donate the money to a good cause.
When I moved to Australia I was inspired by the aussie style which reminds me a bit of the 1960s 1980s style. It’s really different from what I’ve seen in Germany. It’s a lot more hippie and bohemian. However the living costs in Australia are higher than what I was used to but I wanted to adjust my style and was definitely inspired by the look. Thus I looked for a cheap way to go shopping and I got passionate about op shops (second hand shops). I think it’s really interesting that aussies don’t refer to the term second hand but rather an opportunity shop which definately illustrates more what is since it is an opportunity to get an awesome, new and unique outfit or even just a piece. There is a huge variety of op shops around Australia and I got to admit I had some favourites. As soon as I got to know some Australian brands I found myself looking for these at the op shops and I can tell you that I found amazing pieces not higher than $9 which is a huge bargain. Now I own some stunning pieces and especially looking at my jeans you can find some premium brands. I would have never bought these pieces at their original price because some of these jeans cost about $140 and that is way to much for a jeans but you know what I got most of them for $2 and they still look perfect some were not even worn! Therefore I highly recommend shopping at opportunity shops when you live on a low budget as you can get the premium brands for a lot less than your friends. Of course you need a lot of patience as there is usually a wide selection of pieces and it’s always a bit of a gamble as there is usually only one size available but you can always make a bargain.
